The hotel in Jordan’s capital city has a policy of promoting environmental awareness on all matters connected with its services and the welfare of its staff. Since early December 2006 it has been providing the environmentally friendly meals in its staff restaurant every Monday. On that one day the usual menu is changed to one offering healthy organic food.
Banished for the day are sugar, tea bags, white bread and rice to be replaced by green tea leaves, honey, brown bread and rice. Staff can also chose from a selection of salad dishes and drink fresh fruit juices.
The hotel has an Environment and Community Club and they suggested introducing the environmentally friendly foods initiative.
The Amman Marriot has a strong commitment to the environment and plans to become the most environmentally conscious hotel in the Middle East.
The Amman Marriot is one of three hotels in Jordan managed by Marriot International. The other two are in the Jordan Valley and at Petra the 'Rose Red City Half as old as Time.'
