Qatar in Asian Games Football Fina

Qatar defeats the defending champions Iran to go through to the football final at the 15th Asian Games in Doha.

Qatar, who have never before won a medal for football at the Asian Games, have defeated the reigning champions Iran and go forward to meet Iraq in the all Arab final.


When the whistle blew to signify the end of the football semi final between Iran and Qatar the crowd went wild. Victorious hosts Qatar may now be on their way to challenge for the foootbal gold medal at the 15th Asian Games but the celebrations had already started.

In a game where Qatar made all of the running Sebastian Quintana scored in the 28th minute of to put Qatar one goal up. Then former English Premier League player, Hussain Yaser Adbulrahman, added to the score in the second half.

The former Manchester City player took a shot from 25 yards. This hit an Iranian defender and deflected past goalkeeper, Hassan Roudbarian, into the net.

The tournament hosts were cheered on throughout the match by a jubilant and passionate home crowd.

Friday’s final has now been moved from Al-Gharrafa Sports Club to the 12,000 seater, Al-Sadd Sports Club.
