Qatar scored the only goal in the game after 62 minutes when Mohammed Bilal Rajab headed the ball past Iraq’s goalkeeper Iraq goalkeeper Mohammed Khadum.
Qatar went on the offensive from the start and dominated the play throughout the game.
When referee Hiroyoshi Takayama blew the final whistle the crowds in Doha's Al-Sadd Football Stadium went wild with joy. Qatar’s striker Hussain Yaser led the rest of the team in hugging their Bosnian coach Dzemaludin Musovic as the cheers of the fans echoed round the stadium.
For host nation Qatar it was a fitting end to a superb games with a final total of nine gold medals and their first ever in football.
