British Prime Minister Tony Blair visits Turkey to Discuss the Situation in Cyprus

Tony Blair is to visit Turkey after attending a meeting of EU leaders meeting to decide on the aprtial suspension of talks on Turkey's membership of the EU.


Tony Blair is making a surprise visit to Turkey today. According to Zaman Online the British Prime Minister will fly to the Turkish following this mornings EU summit in Brussels. On the agenda for discussion by the EU leaders is the partial suspension of talks on Turkey's application to join the European Economic Union.

Britain is one of the few countries in the west supporting Turkey’s bid for full membership. Following the decision on the partial suspension of talks Tony Blair will travel to Turkey where it is expected that situation in Cyprus will be the main issue on the agenda.

Prime Minister Blair is then scheduled to visit Egypt, Israel, Palestine and the United Arab Emirates.
