Yes I've spent some time with the Bedouin in Wadi Rum and will get round to writing about that soon. They're wonderful people.
One of the things that attracted me to Wadi Feynan was the trekking and I'm planning on doing some of the longer ones, either to Dana village or Petra, on my next visit.
My first visit to Feyan was about eight years ago when it was just a community of tents. The RSCN had just started a leather work project aimed at generating sustainable income for the Bedouin women. It was outside, under a tarpaulin, with just a few tables. The women scraped and preserved the goat skins and a baby under the table was crawling with flies.
Last summer I revisited the project. It's been a great success. It's now housed in an adobe building, the women look happier and more prosperous and another baby was lying there in a nice new basket complete with net.
