Lonely Planet are usually pretty good. One of the reasons for this is the tight selection procedure they have for choosing new writers. The other is the fact that they actually still pay decent fees.
many other publishers are now thinking that they can reduce fees and still get writers. It stands to reason that if a writers fee is cut then he or she will cut the amount of work they do. What the publisher ends up with is a badly researched book, cobbled together from the internet. OK so they continue to sell these guides based on their previous reputation. But it won't take long before that changes.

That's what I'm planning to do Mari. I have a pile sitting on my desk from Bradt and another arrived in the post today, several Globetrotters from New Holland and many more hopefully on their way. I just need to get some time to sit and read each one in depth then I'll post my thoughts.
